Better us Than Some Maniac: Russian Parents' Justification For Raping 12-year-old Daughter

A Russian couple, arrested for regularly raping their 12-year-old daughter from December 2016 to March 2017, justified the crime saying they were “training their daughter in advance for adult life”. “Better us than some maniac,” the victim’s mother told the police. The couple, accused of turning their child into a “sex slave”, will face a 20-year jail term, if convicted.

The victim’s ordeal was discovered when she went to a doctor with “problems concerning her periods”. The doctor discovered that she was not a virgin. When confronted, she revealed the sexual abuse she had suffered at the hands of her parents. Upon the horrific revelation, the parents were stripped-off their parental rights and the girl was immediately put into care.

Upon interrogation, it was revealed that the accused father raped his 12-year-old daughter multiple times – sometimes accompanied by the mother on the same bed “every other day”. She was, in fact, forced to sleep in the same bed after the sexual assaults. Her mother had separately tortured her with an “artificial penis”.

Admitting to the crime, the accused mother told the police that the couple had decided to “train their daughter for the adult life”. She also admitted to forcing her daughter into threesomes with the couple. A report said that the couple believed “‘it was better for the child to lose her virginity with her own father’ than learn details of sexual life in other ways”.

The police said that the victim’s grandmother and great-grandmother lived in the same building in Volgograd city but had no idea about the sexual abuse the girl was going through.
